We argue that produce farming is best modelled as a fleet of small, instrumented closed loops rather than a small fleet of large monoculture farms. We describe Verdant OS, a federated decision system deployed across 1,420 hydroponic farms in 11 countries, and present results showing 3.4× yield-per-m², 98% water reclamation, and 62% gross margins under unit economics that improve with deployment density. We close with an open call for collaborators on crop-forecasting v3.
